Sydney is the capital of New South Wales state and the most populous city (nearly 5 million people) in Australia and Oceania. Located on Australia’s east coast, the metropolis surrounds the world’s largest natural harbour, and sprawls towards the Blue Mountains to the west.
The city has a humid subtropical climate with warm, sometimes hot summers and mild winters, with rainfall spread throughout the year. The warmest months are January and February, with an average air temperature range of 18.7–25.9 °C (65.7–78.6 °F) for January and 18.8–25.8 °C (65.8–78.4 °F) for February.
